Yet, with consistent and dedicated effort, it is feasible to sustain a living while working from home. I started researching various home based businesses 18 months ago. Despite obtaining several price quotes for private health insurance, none of them offered the same comprehensive coverage as my husband's policy, so I opted to be added to his plan. Consequently, not only was I making less money from my home based business, but my husband's paychecks were also reduced due to the insurance premiums deducted. My husband was sharing his day with me when he mentioned meeting a provider located ten miles away from our house. This provider was in search of a case manager. Intrigued, I contacted her and discovered that she needed someone to work part-time. The salary wasn't impressive, but the job came with health care benefits, available for a monthly fee of twenty dollars. I had an interview and accepted the position. I enjoy working as a case manager, and the part-time hours allow me to continue with my home-based business. Additionally, my husband feels like he received a raise because his insurance premiums are no longer deducted from his paycheck. I believe that the high cost of private health insurance compels many individuals to remain employed by companies that offer health insurance as a perk.
